The Huawei S6720-EI switch provides many security measures to defend against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, against attacks on networks or individual users. DoS attacks include SYN Flood, Land, Smurf and ICMP Flood attacks. Attacks on networks refer to BPDU STP/ root attacks. Attacks on users include false DHCP server attacks, man-in-the-middle, IP/MAC falsification, flooded DHCP request attacks and DoS attacks that change the CHADDR field in DHCP packets. Huawei S6720-EI supports Huawei DHCP, which generates user-defined entries based on access interfaces, MAC addresses, IP addresses, IP address leases and VLAN identifiers. DHCP tracking rejects packets that do not match any binding entries, e.g. ARP or IP impersonation packets. This prevents hackers from using ARP packets to initiate attacks on campus networks. To protect the system from false attacks by a DHCP server, the interface connected to it can be configured as trusted. The S6720-EI supports strict ARP learning to prevent forgery. It also provides IP source control to prevent DoS attacks resulting from falsified MAC, IP and MAC/IP addresses. Whereas URPF provided by Switch S6720-EI authenticates packets by checking their transmission path in reverse order, helping to protect the network from attacks impersonating the source address.
