What is PoE?
PoE (Power over Ethernet) - is a technology based on the standard of electricity transmission via a twisted pair (Ethernet cable) to peripheral target devices operating in the Ethernet network. These devices include, for example, IP cameras, IP phones, smart devices, VOIP phones, alarm systems and many others. This technology works in several standards: IEEE 802.3af, IEEE 802.3at (also known as PoE + or 48v 8023af), and IEEE 802.3bu (called Power over Data Lines).
What is the difference between IEEE 802.3af and 48v 8023af?
The original IEEE 802.3af standard, invented in 2003, is called PoE and supplies 15.4W of power to each device. However, the devices cause a lot of voltage loss, which means that the available power will be only 12.95W. The IEEE 802.3at standard, known as PoE +, is an update to the 802.3af standard. It provides devices with a power of 25.5W. Both standards enable gigabit Ethernet transmission.
What is PoE injector?
PoE power supply - this is a device that adds power from an external source to a twisted pair cable. It is equipment that powers network devices with low power consumption (e.g. wireless routers or access points). It is ideal for use wherever there is no available power outlet, because it gives you more options to set up network equipment, including in hard-to-reach places.
How to use PoE injector?
The PoE power supply is ideal for sending data, while powering our network equipment that complies with this standard. If you do not have a switch with the function of supplying energy to devices, then the PoE adapter is the perfect solution. You can power devices such as access points without any problem and without the need for additional cables. PoE power supply is very easy to install, just connect the PoE adapter to the Ethernet switch and to the device that needs power - along with the data packet (e.g. access points). By deciding to buy a PoE injector and minimizing the budget, we can expand our existing Ethernet network and cable infrastructure. In our Batna24.com store you will find network equipment that will help solve problems and take care of your smart home. We offer, among others: Gigabit PoE Injector, SFP modules, power banks and many other products.
