The new generation of Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 millimeter wave radar sensors, integrating motion, space, distance and direction detection, will provide unprecedented personalized detection capabilities. The Presence Sensor differs from a standard motion sensor in that it can accurately detect a person's presence based on movements as small as the rise and fall of the chest during breathing, and knows where you are in the room and whether you are sitting, standing, or lying down.
Zone positioning offers a significant advantage over traditional PIR motion detectors by monitoring rooms of up to 40 m² (about 430 square feet) and dividing them into up to 30 zones. It is suitable for a virtually infinite variety of usage scenarios based on actual presence in each such zone. In addition, the use of only two conditions "Presence" and "Absence" will make automation setup simpler than ever before.
The Aqara FP2 supports simultaneous detection of up to 5 people (maximum accuracy up to 3 people), making it particularly useful in multi-occupant households. It can be used for home automation and security purposes, but also for energy management such as heating and cooling systems based on actual presence in a room. With FP2, you can enjoy a smarter and more reassuring home environment tailored to everyone's needs.
By implementing millimeter-wave radar technology, the Aqara FP2 sensor provides precise presence detection, even for the smallest movements. What's more, it doesn't require a camera monitoring system, giving users maximum privacy.
The Aqara FP2 is visible as several sensors in the HomeKit (and Home Assistant), Amazon Alexa and Google Home ecosystems. You can easily integrate the sensor without the need for an Aqara hub, which is a good option for smart home enthusiasts looking to expand their setup.
You can mount the FP2 on the ceiling and activate fall detection mode. The FP2's occupancy sensor will detect and notify you via the app whenever someone falls in the detection area, minimizing the risk of injury and helping to protect your family's health and life.
Millimeter wave radar technology is the next big thing in smart home sensors! No longer will you need several sensors to detect different areas in a room, and careful setup and long-term management of each sensor. With FP2, you'll get multiple infrared (PIR) sensors and even one additional light sensor.
Wi-Fi connectivity does not mean dependence on the cloud. FP2 can easily perform automation locally, ensuring uninterrupted operation even without an Internet connection.
With an IPX5 rating, the sensor can also be installed in humid environments such as bathrooms and even outdoors under a roof. In addition, the built-in light sensor, which is also visible to third-party ecosystems, allows for more flexible and enjoyable lighting automation, as well as advanced home automation based on light levels. The Aqara FP2 allows for wall mounting, ceiling mounting and angle adjustment for flexible placement. It is also possible to install the FP2 in the corner of a room and configure the map accordingly.
Thanks to its advanced components, the Aqara FP2 presence sensor is able to support many more state-of-the-art functions, such as sleep monitoring, people counting, posture detection (lying, sitting, standing, walking) and support of the Matter ecosystem for enhanced functionality.
