Network cable most commonly used for the construction of local area networks. Category 6 includes cabling whose bandwidth requirements are up to 250 MHZ (bandwidth of 200 Mbps). It provides for the implementation of Gigabit Ethernet (4x 250MHz =1GHZ) and ATM transmission of 622 Mbps. It is built with 4 pairs of cables twisted together to eliminate electromagnetic and mutual interference. The cables are made of pure copper and surrounded by an HDPE sheath with a diameter of 0.92 ± 0.03mm, which has an increased density and particularly high diaelectric insulation. They have an outer PVC she ath with a thickness of 0.50 ± 0.05mm.
The cable is designed for indoor use. It is ideal for building installations in offices or homes. Twisted-pair cable is also often used in closed-circuit television installations, where one cable can transmit video signals from several cameras and power.

Used mainly in installations where there are no other cables in close proximity, i.e. electrical, other signal cables, i.e. where there are no other elements that could directly or indirectly affect the signal flowing through the cable and the intended bit rate will not be more than 1Gbps.
This is the designation for one of the cable constructions encountered.
U/UTP (formerly UTP) - unshielded twisted pair cable.
