Bluetooth tags play a huge role in IoT systems where Bluetooth is used to transmit data over short distances. These small devices can be used to track various objects based on proximity technology. For example, if a KNOT gateway is located in different parts of a construction site, these tags can be used to locate construction tools, electrical equipment and other resources.

How does it work?

Simply attach the tags to the items you need - and the nearest gate will sense the tags in your proximity. Extremely useful in warehouse logistics - let your cargo notify you as soon as it's in storage! They consume so little power that a single built-in 220 mAh battery lasts for years.

Once activated, the tag sends telemetry advertisement packets from MikroTik to the gat eway (such as KNOT or another BLE gateway). These packets contain the MAC address used for identification, as well as telemetry data - such as acceleration, tilt, and battery level. The gateway then sends this data to a remote server using MQTT or HTTP protocols. By default, advertising packets are sent once every 5 seconds, but you can change this value according to your own preferences. For example, if you set the interval to 1 second, the battery lasts for two years. The built-in accelerometers can not only detect acceleration (motion), but also record if the device has been dropped or tilted (free fall detection). The indoor version of the MikroTik BLE tag works best in a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. It is splash-proof and has a built-in accelerometer.
