Edge Point Ubiquiti EP-54V-150W test
Modular power plant - Ubiquiti Edge Power EP-54V-150W

This time, Batna's "Test-Lab" was supplied with a modular telecommunication power supply unit from Ubiquiti Inc., the Edge Power EP-54V-150W with additional PSU 150W (EP-54V-150W-DC) module. We also have two batteries (lead-acid) 12V 18Ah.

Models Edge Power EP-54V-72W and Edge Power EP-24V-72W require only one 12V battery (or parallel connection).
Unlike previous models, Edge Power EP-54V-150W (with 22-60V input power supply), requires at least two batteries connected in series (2x12V=24V) or a multiple of 3(36V) and 4(48V) power supplies connected in series.

Tested Edge Power is based on the Atheros AR933x "Hornet" platform. (MIPS 24Kc V7.4) probably at 400MHz. In the system you can see the second network card turned off and there is also no WiFi wireless network module.
Installation
The PSU from Ubquiti Edge Power EP-54V-150W is suitable for installation in a 19" rack cabinet as well as on the wall. Thanks to the sets of screws and appropriate holders included in the set - we have the option of choosing the assembly.

First login
The default address for Edge Power series devices is https://192.168.10.1 .
When logging in for the first time it is very important to update the software of our Edge Power, as the default is EP.v.1.0.1 firmware and this significantly reduces the functionality of the device.

And after updating our software to EP.v.1.6.0, our Edge Power interface changes. We have many more diagnostic options, more configuration options and many useful functions.

You can clearly see that the graphical interface of the Ubiquiti Edge Power EP-54V-150W PSU works very efficiently and quickly. It's also hard to see any problems with its operation.

More useful features of Ubiquiti Edge Power:
- Ping Watchdog
- Monitoring power consumption and current load
- VLAN service
- UMS service
- NMS service
- SNMP service
- Option to send logs to remote machine
Ubiquiti Edge Power output
The output power of each Edge Power module (DC, AC) can deliver up to 150W of power. Of course, two modules give 300 watts at 54V. But you have to remember that if you use one AC module and one DC module, you will only get 150 watts, because the second module is used to charge the batteries.
Also note that the PSU modules from Edge Power do not match either Ubiquiti GPON OLT or Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Infinity. You also cannot mount or dismount HotSwap, i.e. you have to turn off the device to change, add or remove the PSU.
Summary
The power supply unit Ubiquiti EdgePower EP-54V-150W deserves the name of a small telecommunications power plant. Despite only having 150W available it is enough to power a 4 sector WiFi wireless station with additional transmission devices. In my opinion, it is an ideal device for a local telecommunication operator or for companies, e.g. to sustain the power supply of CCTV cameras or telecommunication infrastructure.
