The network cable most commonly used for building local area networks, includes Fast Ethernet (100Mbps speed) as well as Gigabit Ethernet (1000 MB/s) applications. It is constructed of 4 pairs of cables twisted together to eliminate electromagnetic and mutual interference. The wires are made of pure copper with a thickness of 24 AWG and are surrounded by a PE sheath. The diameter of each wire with insulation is 0.97mm. The cable is shielded with aluminum foil and has an additional grounding conductor. Twisted-pair cable is also often used in CCTV installations, where one cable can transmit video signals from several cameras and power.
