Patch panel (patch panel) is one of the basic elements used in the construction of structured cabling. It is mounted in the rails of a 19" rack with the same screws that are used to mount active devices. Patch panel is used to terminate cables that come together in the distribution cabinet.

To maintain the proper connection standard, the RJ-45 cat 5e STP ports of the patch panel are connected to the active device using patchcords of the appropriate category and design. The cable is connected to the patch panel with a dedicated crimping tool, also known as a Krone knife.
