Extralink Chiron - gigabit switch with SFP ports

Extralink Chiron is a 24-port next-generation Layer 3 switch. It targets IP MAN (metropolitan area network), government and corporate networks, Internet cafes. It is developed on the basis of high-performance hardware and supports features such as efficient ACLs, flexible QinQ, 1:1 or N:1 VLAN switching, Ethernet OAM, carrier-level QoS and industry-level 10GE Ether-ring. It also supports Layer 3 routing protocol.

High reliability

Based on an advanced distribution mechanism and an efficient cross-physical link aggregation function, the logic control plane, service control plane and service data plane are separated. This allows Extralink Chiron to support continuous routing redirection at Layer 3, avoiding service interruption due to a single failure.

Telecommunications level Ethernet switch

Chiron supports telecom-level Ethernet protection protocol with less than 50 ms protection offset time, STP/RSTP/MSTP, active and backup uplinks, and LACP link aggregation to ensure high service reliability. Provides an excellent Ethernet OAM mechanism for real-time network health monitoring for rapid problem localization and detection. Supports In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU) to ensure uninterrupted data transfer during system upgrades. Supports various L2 multicast functions, including IGMP-Snooping, fast-leave and trans-vlan.

Flexible and convenient management and maintenance

• It supports management modes such as console port, Telnet, SSH, etc.
• Supports WEB management mode, which is easy and efficient, making installation and debugging convenient
• Support for file upload/download management via TFTP protocol
• Supports ISSU (In-Service Software Upgrade).

QoS rules at the operator level

• Supports priority retagging and complex flow classification based on VLAN, MAC, source address, destination address, IP or priority to enhance service levels
• Supports 8 priority queues per port
• Provides flexible bandwidth control policies and supports port/flow-based flow limit, and provides line speed redirection of each port to ensure high-quality video, audio and data services
• Supports multiple queue scheduling algorithms, e.g. SP, WRR and SP WRR

Comprehensive IPv6 solutions

• Supports IPv6 protocol suite, IPv6 neighbor detection, ICMPv6, path MTU detection, etc.
• Supports Ping, Traceroute, Telnet, SSH, ACL based on IPv6, meeting IPv6 network requirements for hardware management and service control

Excellent security mechanisms

The advanced hardware infrastructure design implements tier-based packet scheduling and packet protection, prevents DoS-/TCP attacks related to SYN flood, UDP flood, broadcast storm or heavy traffic, and supports tier-based command-line protection, giving different levels of users different management privileges.
