The durable outer sheath made of polyethylene (PE) protects the inside of the cable from ultraviolet radiation and mechanical damage. The longitudinal gel coating used blocks water from reaching the copper conductors even if the outer armour is damaged. The design allows the cable to be laid directly in the ground or in external conduit.

Protection of the signal against interference

The F/UTP architecture includes aluminium foil shielding together with a dedicated grounding conductor. Such shielding effectively suppresses external electromagnetic interference (EMI) and eliminates crosstalk between individual wire pairs. This ensures consistent data transmission smoothness near other power cables or radio equipment.
