How does this model (3rd Gen) differ from the previous generation (2nd Gen)?

The main difference is a significant performance boost thanks to a more powerful CPU and graphics chip (CPU 25%, GPU 130% according to Xiaomi). The 3rd Gen model also offers 32GB of internal memory (compared to 8GB on the 2nd Gen), giving you significantly more space for installing apps and storing data. At the same time, it retains key features familiar from its predecessor, such as 4K support, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and the Google TV™system.

Do I have to pay to use Google TV and apps?

Just using Google TV™and basic features like Google Assistant and Chromecast is free. However, access to some apps, movies or series (e.g. Netflix, HBO Max, Disney ) may require a paid subscription or a one-time purchase/rental of content. There are also many free apps and channels available, which can be found in the Google Play store.
