A digital recorder is a device that, based on the material sent by IP cameras, records image, sound and data from a motion sensor. The device records data on a magnetic disk, DVD, Blu-ray disc, flash memory or other media. The choice of media capacity will depend on our needs and the recording resolution of our camera. Digital recorders can save data from several or over a dozen cameras. They support entire monitoring sets and send data between themselves through wireless systems, using their IP channels. This equipment enables playback of recordings, archiving and remote viewing from anywhere in the world. The recorders also have an access control system that prevents unwanted users from accessing our recordings. They are equipped with special outputs to which alarm systems or other sensors can be connected, e.g. smoke exhaust systems. More advanced sets with an IP camera are able to record data from the license plates of passing vehicles. The key aspect determining recorders is the maximum digital transmission speed, i.e. bitrate for data coming from IP cameras, which determines the amount and size of data streams supported by the recorder. The digital recorder is a very important element of the proper functioning of our monitoring system, but not irreplaceable, because its role can be played by a solid desktop computer with appropriate software.
